French Talent Passport for a Company Director or Corporate Officer

Foreign company directors can obtain a multi-year Talent Passport residence permit if they meet the eligibility criteria specific to the reason for their stay in France.

You can obtain a talent passport residence permit – corporate officer – allowing all commercial activities related to the mandate if you meet all of the following conditions:

  • You are a legal representative in a company established in France
  • You have at least 3 months of work experience as an employee or corporate officer in a company of the same group
  • Your gross annual remuneration is greater than or equal to about € 60,000

The maximum duration is four years on a renewable basis. The validity period of this permit depends on the nature, characteristics, and duration of the proposed project.

If you live abroad, you must file your card application with the French consular authorities in your country of residence. On your arrival in France, your card will be given to the prefecture or sub-prefecture of your domicile upon presentation of your visa.

If you live in France, you must submit your request for a card to the prefecture (or sub-prefecture) of your domicile (find out more on the prefecture’s website) within 2 months before the expiry date of your residence permit.

If the planned length of stay is less than a year, foreign nationals can apply for a long-stay visa equivalent to a residence permit (‘VLS-TS’) marked Passeport Talent (‘Talent Passport’). This is valid for up to 12 months. If foreign nationals wish to stay in France beyond this period, they may apply for a four-year Talent Passport residence permit.

Where a new business is being formed, the consular or diplomatic authorities can refer to the Enterprise, Employment and Economy section of DIRECCTE (section 3E) for an opinion on the project, and its economic viability in particular.

The card is valid for the same duration as that of the employment contract, up to a maximum duration of 4 years. Your family can benefit from the simplified accompanying family procedure. Your spouse and your adult children automatically receive a multi-year family talent passport residence card.

The duration of this card is equal to the remaining validity period of your stay. It gives the right to exercise any professional activity.
